AlphaMD takes 20% off its monthly services for veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders. For many people who have served, affordable testosterone care is hard to get, through the VA or through civilian clinics.
Eligibility is unchanged. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) treats diagnosed testosterone deficiency, and the diagnosis works the same way for service members as for anyone else.
AlphaMD asks for proof of service. The documents it accepts and the ways to submit them are listed in Veterans, military, and first responders: get 20% off TRT.
Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance under federal law, in the same schedule as anabolic steroids and ketamine (DEA). The VA also applies its own coverage rules; does the VA cover testosterone replacement therapy? explains how they work.
The American Urological Association guideline sets out three conditions (AUA 2018):
Symptoms start the evaluation, and repeat morning labs decide it. If your levels come back in the normal range, starting TRT with levels in the normal range covers what that means.
Age alone is not a reason to start testosterone. In its 2025 labeling update, the FDA kept the "Limitation of Use" language for age-related hypogonadism (FDA 2025).
The Testosterone Trials enrolled 790 men aged 65 or older with testosterone under 275 ng/dL and symptoms. One year of testosterone gel gave a moderate benefit to sexual function and some benefit to mood, and no benefit to vitality or walking distance. The trials were too small to draw conclusions about risk (Snyder et al., NEJM 2016).
Testosterone can also raise blood pressure. Ambulatory blood pressure studies confirmed an increase with every testosterone product, and the FDA added a warning to the labels (FDA 2025).
AlphaMD providers review your labs and symptoms before prescribing. The TRT treatment page explains the process.
Veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders get 20% off AlphaMD's monthly services. Eligibility for TRT still depends on symptoms plus two early-morning total testosterone results below 300 ng/dL, the same standard that applies to everyone.
